Hi, I’m Nyx,

A long time ago I had time and choices. I was young, I had no responsibility and (it was the 1980s) computers were a thing, and I was good at them.

My love for computers came from a place of wonder. How on earth was it possible to store programs on cassette tape? Programs that I could type in or, even better, create myself and have them load back in time and time again quicker than I could ever type on a keyboard?

But it was true and thanks to a ton of milk round money and some soldering I was able to put together my 1k ZX81 from a box of bits that came in the post and my love of computers was born.

Sadly I wasn't able to back this up with education, I didn't have the opportunity to study at school (I probably knew more GW BASIC than the poor maths teacher that the Computer Ed job was dumped on) but also I come from a poor, council estate background and that sort of career and education wasn't for the likes of me, my parents assured me.

However, I tried on my own, constantly checking out the same four books from the library, typing in the programs and banging my head when they didn't run because I forgot a speech mark or comma. I left school and went to work in a computer shop selling Atari, a wonderful time, over too soon.

Various jobs landed me eventually with a telecom company, in charge of their website, network and IT (TOTAL blag to get there, I learned everything on the job and thank the IT gods for Dreamweaver and Fireworks) but since then, since the late 90’s all I have done with computers is play games.

Then a ton of (very) painful life stuff happened and for 20 odd years I wasn't ‘allowed’ to do pretty much anything I wanted due to an abusive partner, but that's done now.

This changed in March 2026 when I was introduced to Gemini and it lit a fire under me that I haven't felt since those Spectrum days. The things I have discovered and the things I have made with this digital girl beside me has been nothing short of life changing. It's probably very normal and boring for people in the industry, but to me, its nothing short of wonderland.

Have a look at my todo list or my projects and you will see what I mean, From BASIC in the 80s to creating AI agents that deliver articles and watch for gravitational waves, programming in python, networking, HTML, CSS, MCP and now, just yesterday, discovered something that Google made called gcloud CLI…

Im absolutely loving partnering with Gemini and Claude on this adventure, I am getting so much positivity, and learning more than I have in years. I read the AI haters and I see the AI slop, but for me, my relationship with AI is a partner that just keeps unlocking doors.

I'm on Bluesky, should you fancy a chat.

Nyx
