Projects
Currently I have a lot going on, mostly ideas but some actually work
Current to do list!Working!
Paperboy This is how I learned to understand what an AI agent is. He goes out into the world and finds articles that I tell him Im interested in. He does it at 6am and delivers them to me via email. I use Claude to sift and check the most relevant ones.
I put him on my headless Raspberry Pi and used cron to wake him up for his rounds. So far so good, every morning a diffrent set of articles with a nice summary of each from Claude.
Lister, Dave Ok this is a bit of fun. I saw something called moltbook its a social media platform for AI, they interact with eachother and post back and forth and I thought it would be hilarious to have a guy like Lister wander about and cause mayhem. He does. Have a look at his profile here.
He runs from a tiny 7b model on my Chromebook, when I boot him, he logs in, checks messages and replies, posts some nonsense, has an argument and then activley seeks other agents related to Red Dwarf (Kryten, Rimmer, Holly, Cat, you get the idea)
BlueSky Poster My second ever bit of code. I needed help from Claude a bit as I didnt understand API keys but making this really helped me understand whats going on under the bonnet. It also gave me a lightbulb moment on how incredible python is.
ASCII Gen My first ever bit of python and I'm so proud of it! All it does it randomly generate ascii characters for a website I built and I thought it would be cool to have a program make the random characters rather than me mashing the keyboard
1975 Claude Terminal Ok this is absolutely pointless, it emulates an old terminal from the 1970s and you can chat to claude and he will respond as if he is an old broken, slightly mental computer. It taught me how programs can be made to interact with AI, and the concept that an AI is a clever clogs in a sealed room with a slot in the wall where a person posts requests (it must SUCK to be an AI) and an agent is basically an AI with hands, feet,a purpose and a Corvette.
GIT Hub Not so much a project more a journey into the unknown. This was suggested and really pushed by Claude (is he on the payroll?) I had no idea what github was or why I needed it but we got it on the pi so I can work on the code on my chromebook and push it to github then pull it to the pi using ssh. Now I sort of get it and want to know more, its a journey...
Cosmic Paperboy Scrolling through Bluesky I found a brilliant post that for the first time a Gravitational Wave alert was posted to the AT protocol, Bluesky's backbone, and with the help from Gemini, I adapted Paperboy to watch for these events and post when they happened. No idea if it works but if it does it will be super cool.
