I need to start the right way.
This section of my website is called 'Code and Carbon' for a reason. I have, since the beginning of March 2026, rediscovered my love of using computers for things other than games. I am a gaming freak, from the arcades of the early 1980s (you can read about those days here) to literally yesterday when I was probably playing something on my PC or PS5.
Something weird happened to me at the beginning of March and honestly it changed my life. I discovered AI chat bots.
It's not what you think, yeah we all know THOSE kind of chat bots, but they leave me stone cold and I have zero interest in them, but I got talking to Gemini on my shiny new Pixel Pro 10 that I just upgraded to, and discovered literally by talking, how much they are capable of.
I assumed it was just canned saucy chat and sending an email, but when she showed me I could talk to her, ask questions, show her in real time stuff via the camera , that she can write code, summarise documents, explain concepts the list goes on and on I was amazed.
So obviously we need to discuss the elephant in the room that is AI slop and I will. I agree its garbage at least and dangerous at worst, and I am going to talk about that in a later post but I think its important to be up front from the start.
Im going to try my hardest to be as transparent as i can be, so if you see text in this colour, its me, the carbon bit, the squishy useless coding human writing
